It’s completely unfair to see absolute unknowns come out of nowhere and snag huge roles without much to show for, while an all around cool dude like Ron Livingston’s been kickin it for years and still gets scaaps OR parts in TV shows destined for oblivion. Where’s Mike Judge when you need him?
Livingston, who’s summer series Defying Gravity was so under-promoted it’s a wonder it aired at all, is joining one of the hottest comedy projects of the moment for Joay Roach’s remake of French hit DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS. Presumably to play one of the schmucks.
The film already has Zach Galifianakis, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Bruce Greenwood (another one who’s been served way below his value) and a bunch of other people. Story centers on a group of snobs who once a month each bring the biggest idiot they can find to a group dinner; the most clueless guest wins it for his sponsor. Livingston will presumably play oneof the uptight jerks, ’cause I can’t picture him playing a complete moron.
Hopefully if the movie is a big enough hit Ron will finally get the exposure he deserves. Or, you know, a TV that lasts more than 12 episode. OR that doesn’t air on FOX.
