MTV recently got the chance to chat it up with Edward Pressman, producer of THE CROW films, and revealed new tidbits of info on the impending reboot/re-imagining/rewhateverthef*ck of the popular cult film.
In regards to Stephen Norrington (THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, BLADE) and his script, it is apparently “terrific”. And in discussing the film’s new design, Pressman commented on illustrations done by production designer Rob Stromberg (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, AVATAR) saying that “[it will be] quite different from Alex Proyas’ approach with the original ‘Crow.'” Nothing new there really, as it simply confirms what we’ve known from pretty much the start.
Pressman went on to add that what with the film’s pre-production moving along at a good clip, we can probably expect to hear casting news sooner than later: “[We’ve got an offer out] to a major actor and things are moving ahead very aggressively, with the aim of doing the film this year.” Major, huh? Does that mean these hombres are not in the running?
But what about the titular fowl itself? Pressman said, “The Crow itself is a creature in this movie – it’s not just a bird. It’s got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it’s very different [and has] a more active role in the story.”
