Steven Spielberg has announced the cast of his upcoming film WAR HORSE but don’t expect to see names like Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise or even Tom Bosley (though that would be incredible) in this film. The cast is mostly made up of actors will little name recognition here in the US, though you’re likely familiar with Emily Watson, David Thewlis, Stephen Graham and Tom Hiddleston (who’s playing Loki in THOR).
Starring in the film is Jeremy Irvine, who will play a young boy in WWI Britain who’s sent off to war in France and his friendship with Joey, a horse who rides alongside him in battle. Peter Mullen, Nicolas Bro, David Kross, Leonard Carow, Rainer Bock, Robert Emms and Patrick Kennedy have also joined the cast of the film, which is expected to begin shooting later this year.
The film is an adaptation of the novel by Michael Morpurgo and the script is currently being written by Lee Hall and Richard Curtis. For those who like the more genre efforts of Spielberg, worry not. He’s still producing JJ Abrams’ SUPER 8, Jon Favreau’s COWBOYS & ALIENS and the Coen Bros. TRUE GRIT remake.
