Back in June it was reported that director Robert Rodriguez was offered DEADPOOL and right after Comic-Con it was revealed he was officially in negotiations to direct Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel flick. Now that he’s out promoting MACHETE, Rodriguez was asked about the film and while he did confirm he’s interested in the project, he stopped short of claiming it will be his next film. “I’m just working everything out,” he told the LA Times claiming that SIN CITY 2 or NERVERACKER could still be next on his schedule.
That said, Rodriguez seems to really love the current draft of the script by ZOMBIELAND writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. He said they’ve written a “great script” and that he was really enthusiastic to get working on it.
The main problem seems to be Ryan Reynolds’ schedule. He just wrapped GREEN LANTERN and is expected to begin work later this year on R.I.P.D. for director Robert Schwentke before starting on another GREEN LANTERN film (all while promoting his upcoming thriller BURIED). Will he be able to fit another superhero film in there?
