Mickey Rourke and Til Schweiger join Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Hany Abu-Assad’s The Courier

Based on the people involved here, THE COURIER is sounding like a pretty interesting little movie…

TheWrap today is reporting that Mickey Rourke and former Basterd Til Schweiger have joined the cast of Hany Abu-Assad’s action-thriller THE COURIER. Abu-Assad is probably best known for the incredible 2005 Oscar-nominated drama PARADISE NOW about two childhood friends that are recruited as suicide bombers.

The film, which already stars former Watchman Jeffrey Dean Morgan and comes from screenwriting pair Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (WANTED, 3:10 TO YUMA), follows “a courier (Morgan) who has tackled dangerous assignments and never missed a drop. He’s hired to deliver a briefcase to a notorious crime boss who can’t be found. The courier finds himself pursued by corrupt cops, double-crossing feds and rivals from the criminal underworld.” Schweiger will play an FBI agent. Rourke’s part is currently unknown.

Schweiger, who played a pretty convincing psychotic killer in Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, will next be turning his attention to… comedy! He’ll star opposite Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, and Reese Witherspoon in THIS MEANS WAR for director McG sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Rourke will next be seen along with Megan Fox and Bill Murray in the piece of shit PASSION PLAY.
