As time goes by it gets hard to come up with reasons to like Kirsten Dunst. In my teenybop days, I loved her. I even ended up doing a project over DROP DEAD GORGEOUS in one of my theater classes because the movie was f*cking hilarious. But now every time I see her I feel annoyed.
When there were rumors that Dunst may not been in Spidey 4, a calm sense of relief rushed over me. Then the project was completely scrapped and out of the ashes a reboot arose. Is Dunst upset that she won’t get to continue her days as Mary Jane? Not really.
While promoting her next film ALL GOOD THINGS, Dunst spoke with Screen Junkies about the end of Raimi’s franchise and Marc Webb’s reboot, “I feel like it was time, you know. Sometimes they always want to push things for money reasons or whatever and it just didn’t come together the way they probably had wanted or envisioned. I like Andrew Garfield so much as an actor and Emma Stone so I think they’ll be great in the new version.”
No matter what the fans may think of it, Dunst still has love for the trilogy, “I felt like what we had during those films was so special, like me and Tobey and Sam. It was such a unique experience and also because it was these independent minds and actors and you’re making this huge film. It’s great that all these kids are such huge fans and to be a part of a movie like that is very special, especially a good franchise. So to end on 3 I think is the perfect way to leave it.”
Will she go see the new Spidey film when it comes out? “Of course I’m going to see the movie. Of course.”
