Paul Rudd may not get to re-team with Jason Segel for The Muppets

This is kind of a bummer.

After all this time thinking that Paul Rudd was going to voice Walter for THE MUPPETS, it turns out that probably won’t be happening.

MTV spoke with Rudd who said this, “I wish that I was [in it]. It’s all rumor. I wanted to be in it, and I talked to Jason, but I think there was some things that happened and I don’t know if I’m gonna get to do it.” I really thought it was set that Rudd was playing the new Muppet roommate of Segel who is obsessed with the iPhone.

Rudd was sincerely disappointed, “It blows actually. It really sucks.” But maybe he’ll be in the sequel? “I’m hoping for the ‘Muppet Movie 2.’ I’m playing Charles Grodin in ‘Muppet 2: Electric Waterloo?’ Beaker-loo? Muppet Movie 2: The Muppets Are Still Taking Manhattan.”

So who is going to voice Walter now if Rudd can’t do it? What about one of his co-stars on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER? Neil Patrick Harris or Josh Radnor would do just fine. Maybe it will be one of his big-screen buddies like Jay Baruchel, Bill Hader or Andy Samberg? My vote goes to Martin Starr.
