I’m still surprised that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg starred together in the first place and now comes word that the two actors are set to reteam on an upcoming Warner Bros. film. The OTHER GUYS stars have signed on to star in TURKEY BOWL, a film that would star the two as warring neighbors who compete in a yearly tackle football game. Alec Baldwin has also joined the cast as Wahlberg’s father.
The script was written by “30 Rock” showrunner Robert Carlock and fellow TV writer Scott Silveri. Ferrell will produce the film with director Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez production company (which is set up at Paramount, who must’ve taken a pass on this project). In addition to Ferrell, Wahlberg and Baldwin, the team wants to fill the movie (and the football teams) with cameos from friends and fellow comedians (the initial story says to think along the lines of the giant rumble in ANCHORMAN).
So far no director is attached to the project but it doesn’t look like Ferrell and Wahlberg will be bringing their OTHER GUYS director McKay with them on board. Both Ferrell and Wahlberg have busy schedules and filming may not begin on TURKEY BOWL until later this year.
