You knew it was coming eventually – The Matt Damon directed film. And, like Clooney before him, Damon is set to direct a film with “The Office” star John Krasinski. Damon and Krasinski co-wrote the script based on idea the latter cooked up with author Dave Eggers.
Whoa, whoa, slow down. Damon, Krasinski, Eggers?… So Damon and Krasinski, both Boston boys, became friends after the former starred with Emily Blunt, Krasinski’s wife, in THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU. Eggers and Krasinski met on AWAY WE GO, a film Eggers wrote and Krasinski starred in. Somehow they all came together on this untitled drama that’s set up at Warner Bros.
The film would star Damon as a salesman who “arrives in a small town only to have his life changed.” That doesn’t tell us much but the project is also described as something like ERIN BROCKOVICH (a film from frequent Damon collaborator Steven Soderbergh).
Damon looks to begin filming on his directorial debut next spring while his new buddy Krasinski is on his “The Office” hiatus. Meanwhile, somewhere Ben Affleck sheds a single tear.
