The first trailer for BEING FLYNN has just gone online. The film is an adaptation of Nick Flynn’s true life memoir, titled the far less marketable “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City”. The book and film tell the story of a man who never knew his father and at the age of 27 had only met him three times, only to reconnect and examine the depressing lives they were both living.
The son is played by Paul Dano in the film, Robert De Niro the homeless wreck of a father. It’s a great team, but the trailer seems to teeter on the cusp of sappiness. Let’s hope for a solid role for De Niro here. This seems like familiar ground for Dano, who has a similar kind of relationship with Brian Cox in A GOOD HEART. The film was directed by Mark Weitz (CIRQUE DE FREAK, LTITLE FOCKERS)
