A group of filmgoers had a horrible experience as they tried to watch Martin Scorsese’s HUGO at the Regal Union Square in NYC Saturday night. Not only did the film break twice, balooning the running time to an excruciating three and a half hours, but then they apparently started running two reels at once, cramming the film’s final moments with the awful pre-film advertising.
How can this happen? Was there not a projectionist on duty? The management gave refunds and free tickets away after the movie finished but most people had left before then. Considering that they’re charging 18 goddamn dollars for a 3D film now, I would be pissed.
Still, it does make for quite the interesting mashup- a not so subtle meditation on our advertising-laden society. Or something.
