Another new trailer has sparked to life for Tim Burton’s upcoming stop-motion version of FRANKENWEENIE, starring the voice talents of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Christopher Lee, Charlie Tahan, and Conchatta Ferrell.
Hook up the shock-pads:
I know it’s kind of popular to hate on Burton, but I’ve been a fan through thick and thin. I think he delivers more than he doesn’t and the prospect of another stop-motion project from his camp is something to be excited about. NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and CORPSE BRIDE both had his signature style and creative zest that set him apart from everyone else. FRANKENWEENIE looks to follow in that tradition and I’m loving that it’s in black and white, which I think will punch up the 3D in a way we haven’t seen yet.
One thing’s for sure: It doesn’t suck to have more stop-motion animation hitting the big screen. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this one lives (again) up to expectations.
Here’s the synopsis:
From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life–with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
FRANKENWEENIE gets resurrected on October 5th, 2012.
