Here’s another story to add to the awesome casting news of the day: Anthony Hopkins will be joining Russell Crowe in Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH.
A few hours ago, Aronofsky announced this on his Twitter account, “I’m honored to be working with the great sir anthony hopkins. we just added him to the stellar cast of #Noah. #methuselahlives.” As you may already be able to tell from the hashtag, Hopkins will play Methuselah. Up to date on your Biblical history? “Methuselah is the oldest person whose age is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. Extra-biblical tradition maintains that he died on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 1656, at the age of 969, seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood. Methuselah was grandfather to Noah.” If you want to read up on him, head here.
In addition to Crowe, Hopkins will work alongside Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly, and Ray Winstone. Hopkins is an awesome add to this already great cast.
“NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO).”
NOAH is set to release March 28, 2014.
