A new featurette has surfaced for DREDD 3D, the second iteration comic adaptation from director Pete Travis, which shows off a bit of new footage interspersed with interviews from Judge Dredd creators, artists, and filmmakers. It’s an interesting look into the evolution of the character and how he works in the comic book world. If you don’t know anything about the character’s origin or history this is a great place to start.
Take a look:
With the outstanding reviews that flooded in from Comic Con this year, I’d say that my excitement for this has piqued. A lot of folks get annoyed with the term “when done right,” but I think this could potentially be a prime example of the phrase. When filmmakers care enough to do justice to the source material and take great pains to tell a story that translates to the big screen, while still embodying the essence of its origin, then that’s “doing it right” in my book.
DREDD 3D, starring Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, and Lena Headey, hits theaters on September 21, 2012.
