The international trailer for Life of Pi gives us the first look at the movie not on the ocean

The initial trailer and clips for LIFE OF PI showed a sumtpuous movie with a unique story to tell. My biggest problem with it was the glaringly apparent computer-generated set. The complete lack of reality detached me from the movie. But, this new international trailer shows us that the entire movie does not rely on that artificial appearance.

We also get our first look at the other cast-members including Rafe Spall, Irrfan Khan, and Suraj Sharma. Ang Lee definitely brings his eye to this film and while I still cannot quite get past the ocean scenes, the rest of the movie looks beautiful.

Plot: Based on Yann Martel’s coming-of-age survival tale. The novel revolves around a youth who is the lone survivor of a sunken freighter and winds up sharing a lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, an orangutan and a hungry Bengal tiger.

Part of me thinks I should treat this movie the same way I did with Martin Scorsese’s HUGO; detach myself from the glossy 3D and look at the movie underneath. But, even at the glossiest, HUGO still felt real to me. Maybe I need to reboot my suspension of disbelief. Either way, I have enough faith in Ang Lee to check this movie out.

LIFE OF PI opens on November 21st.
