The animated film Turkeys, featuring Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, gets some new producers

After a couple of years of silence, there is now some news regarding the animated movie TURKEYS featuring the voices of Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson. The project is moving forward with a generic 2014 release date.

The movie is being created by Reel FX and now has the added production power of Relativity Media.

Plot: Turkeys is an irreverent, hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy where two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the menu for good.

TURKEYS is being directed by Jimmy Hayward (HORTON HEARS A WHO!) and is produced by Scott Mosier (CLERKS), Craig Mazin (THE HANGOVER PART II) and David I. Stern (HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA).

I didn’t really like HORTON HEARS A WHO! but the plot sounds like it could make for a fun family movie. Reel FX is pretty unknown studio right now but they have projects from some pretty big names coming. Guillermo Del Toro’s DAY OF THE DEAD and Andrew Adamson’s BEASTS OF BURDEN are coming soon. They have worked with the big animation studios at DreamWorks, Fox, Warner Bros, and Universal, so they are not rookies out there.

I like both voice actors so I hope to hear more about this project as it develops.
