Felicity Jones officially joins The Amazing Spider-man 2, but which character will she play?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We heard rumors that Felicity Jones was joining THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 back when it was announced that Paul Giamatti was cast as Rhino. Since then, we have had rumors that Dane DeHaan was not only playing Harry Osborn but also could potentially become Venom in the film. That would bring the villain tally to three. Would anyone be joining Andrew Garfield as Spider-man to battle for the hero side?

Comic Book Movie theorizes that Jones may actually be playing Black Cat in the movie who skirts the line of hero and villain in the same way as DC’s Catwoman. In fact, Jones bears a similar appearance to Anne Hathaway that it does not seem like much of a stretch to think the Sony crew is pushing Marc Webb to incorporate a similar character to this franchise. Without full access to the Marvel canon, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is going to go ahead and try to show us every weapon in it’s arsenal, which could be the kiss of death for the series. No superhero movie that was not a team-oriented approach, has succeeded with multiple heroes and villains packed into a single film.

Plot: In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

I am fine with Felicity Jones joining the cast in what could amount to nothing more than a cameo for the possible third movie. But, as long as they introduce her without forcing her in, this should be an interesting sequel.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens on May 2, 2014.
