If you’re reading this right now, it means that you noticed that I attached the word “spoilers” to my title. So as long as we are all on the same page, then I’ll move on.
For the sake of seeing anything on the front page though, let’s just talk for a second about how awesome IRON MAN 3 is going to be. Well, at least I think it’s going to be a crazy fun ride. When Shane Black stepped on in place of Jon Favreau, I could not have been more excited about the possibilities of what he might bring to the table. This is the guy who did KISS KISS BANG BANG, so there certainly has to be a nice, fresh perspective injected into the world of Tony Stark.
But I’m digressing, so let’s get back to Ms. Potts….
As everyone may have already guessed (or if you’ve been a loyal Iron Man comic fan), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) slips into one of Tony’s suits. During a media outlet for the film, Paltrow spoke about wearing the suit and how it made her a cool mom in the eyes of her child:
I didn’t mind wearing the suit at all. I thought it was light and perfectly comfortable and my children thought I was extremely cool. They were here on a day where I was in it, so they were trying it on and when my son saw me in the suit, he had the biggest eyes, so it was definitely worth it.
I would wear the suit home then start cooking in it and maybe do some gardening on the front lawn. I could jump rope. Doesn’t mean it would be easy, but f*ck it would be awesome.
Then Kevin Feige decided to spill some beans of his own. Marvel’s president discussed the dynamic between Tony and Rhodey, and how that would play out in the film. Then he revealed some juicy details on Aldrich Killian’s role in everything:
So, at the beginning, we see that the President has asked Rhodey as War Machine to get a new paint job and take on the new moniker of the Iron Patriot in order to do American business and be the American hero as opposed to The Avengers or Iron Man himself, who is sort of a separate entity… In a way it becomes a buddy action film, in the third act, where they team up. Neither of them have a suit at a certain point in the movie and they really team up in a great, sort of old- fashioned action movie way and Don and Robert have such an amazing rapport. Aldrich Killian heads a brain-trust organization called AIM that is developing Extremis, which is something that taps into human DNA and is able to reprogram it and regenerate limbs and enhance strength and cure wounds. But it also could change the whole world, which is what Killian intends to do with it.
