Michael Caine joins Interstellar, reteaming for the sixth time with Christopher Nolan

BATMAN BEGINS, THE PRESTIGE, THE DARK KNIGHT, INCEPTION, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and now INTERSTELLAR. From tiny roles to big supporting characters, Michael Caine has built a strong relationship with director Christopher Nolan. I would anticipate that as long as Nolan directs and Caine is acting, the two will find a way to work together.

Michael Caine will join the already cast Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, and Jessica Chastain in the science fiction film previously set up for Steven Spielberg to direct. Nolan slid into the project and has developed the story with his brother Jonah Nolan. Here’s what we know so far.

“INTERSTELLAR involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.”

Caine is a phenomenal actor and I feel his portrayal of Alfred will forever be the benchmark for that character. He brought a humanity and depth to the role that had not been shown on screen before. I would like to see him carry a bigger part in INTERSTELLAR, but even if he just pops up in a scene I will be content.

INTERSTELLAR will open on November 7, 2014.
