Here is our first glimpse of the pre-CGI Rhino in The Amazing Spider-man 2

All of the set photos we have seen of Paul Giamatti filming THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 have been him dressed as Aleksei Sytsevich. Based on that, it can be assumed that the formula developed by Curt Connors and Richard Parker will be what creates many of the villains in this new Spider-man universe. So, Rhino is going to take the same route as The Lizard and be a fully CGI creation.

These new set photos show Paul Giamatti wearing a giant apparatus that will obviously be used to map his behemoth character once his transformation is complete. While we still don’t have any idea what the character will look like, I would be willing to say it is going to follow the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN video game version that is a fully animalized body seen here.

Unlike X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, I think THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is going to manage the tons of new characters well. Here’s my theory: the story is going to focus on Electro as a main villain and he will have to turn good to help Peter stop Rhino. The other characters will just be background set up for the third film and beyond.

Check out the two Rhino photos plus a pair of other cool shots from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 below. Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, and B.J. Novak, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
