As indie dramas go, BREATHE IN seems to be hitting on all the right notes. Starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan, and Kyle MacLachlan, the new film from LIKE CRAZY director Drake Dormus zeroes in on the turmoil of family drama, particularly when faced with forbidden temptation. The dynamic here hinges on Pearce and Jones, who play the source of said temptation and they both seem up to task. It looks beautifully shot and engaging as hell, which is more than enough to inspire a viewing from me.
Take a look:
Here's the synopsis:
When a foreign exchange student arrives in a small upstate New York town, she challenges the dynamics of her host family's relationships and alters their lives forever.
After dipping his toe in big-budget fare with this summer's IRON MAN 3, it's good to see Pearce still playing in the indie pond. Jones is likely primed to make a splash next year as, potentially, The Black Cat in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, so this could be a good warm up to that. Either way, this looks like a solid indie drama that will likely swoop in under the radar.
BREATHE IN is set for release sometime in 2013.
