Some big British television news was released over the weekend and since one of the items you've probably already heard about (I'm sure your Facebook/Twitter/etc. blew up when the news was announced like mine did) I figured I'd throw the other one in as well that you might have missed.
The biggest announcement (of course) was BBC revealing the new Dr. Who: Mr. Peter Capaldi.
Many of you might know the actor from the BBC show Torchwood but to me he'll always be Malcolm Tucker from The Thick of It, and while I'm not a Dr. Who fanatic I may have to check the new ones out because of my love for Capaldi. Unfortunately, I doubt he'll be using as colorful language as he did on The Thick of It while talking to his companion:
Peter Capaldi's first appearance as Dr. Who will be in the 2013 Christmas special, and I've already heard people bitching that Capaldi is too old for the part or that they would rather see Benedict Cumberbatch as the new Doctor. To those people I have this to say: Capaldi is a fantastic actor and a great addition to the long running series. As for Cumberbatch, he's just too big now to be Dr. Who and to be honest he's probably better off not playing the Doctor. Speaking of Benedict Cumberbatch…
BBC also released a teaser for season 3 of Sherlock starring Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. It's definitely a tease and nothing more but just the Sherlock theme song was enough for me to get excited for the new season, although there still isn't a date for when it will air. Curses!
