You might have caught a little movie called PACIFIC RIM this summer, which has Charlie Hunnam as a fairly vanilla protagonist and Ron Perlman as a sleazy black market Kaiju organ merchant, but it’s a far cry from the roles the two stars play on FX’s brilliant biker drama from showrunner Kurt Sutter, Son of Anarchy. The show is entering its penultimate season next month and a new trailer has been released that once again shows the brothers of SAMCRO buried in deep shit without a shovel. The show has an absolutely brilliant supporting cast with Katey Segal, Mark Boone Junior, Kim Coates, Tommy Flanagan, Theo Rossi, and the stunning Maggie Siff. It’s renowned for it’s recurring guest spots as well, with the likes of Danny Trejo, Jimmy Smits, Donal Logue, and even a one-shot from author Stephen King.
Ride into season 6:
When I first saw the trailer for season one of this show it did nothing for me. Bikers? Drama? Whatever. Then, reviews and word of mouth spread and I thought, what the hell, I’ll give it a shot. One shot was all it took. Showrunner Kurt Sutter has put his heart and soul into the show and it makes for some damn fine entertainment, which has me looking forward to it each season as much (if not more) than big studio release films (the same goes for HBO’s Game of Thrones). If you’re on the fence, it’s worth a look (and streaming on Netflix if you want to catch up).
Sons of Anarchy season 6 premieres on FX on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
