Learn who Adam Scott plays in Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Time travel stories can be tricky; every plot element has to work just so or your entire story can unravel. Even the acclaimed LOOPER suffered some plot-holes. Movies like HOT TUB TIME MACHINE may not be quite as worried about continuity errors since, well, the movie is a comedy about a hot tub that serves as a time machine. But, at least the filmmakers are trying to keep things in line.

While John Cusack starred in the first film, Adam Scott was cast as the lead in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 when Cusack decided not to return. So, the question everyone asked when Scott was cast was this: will he be playing the same character as Cusack or are they writing him out entirely? With the rest of the principal cast including Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, and Clark Duke coming back, something would have to be explained.

Coming Soon may have cracked the case and all it took was asking Rob Corddry directly. When they asked the actor who Adam Scott would be playing, Corddry replied:

“Adam Scott is playing his son from 10 years in the future. His son that was conceived in 1986 on the night with Jenny Stedmeyer.”

So, director Steve Pink will still have to explain why John Cusack doesn’t appear in the sequel, but at least his character will be referenced and part of the continued story. I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed the first film. It may not be a top pick for me to see HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 in the theater, but I would definitely check it out on Blu-ray.
