Bill Murray joins Dreamworks’ animated film B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations

Bill Murray is returning to the world of ghosts and the supernatural, only it won’t be as Dr. Peter Venkman. The beloved actor has joined the voice talent assembled for Dreamworks Animation’s B.O.O: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS. Murray joins the extensive cast that already features Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Rashida Jones and Matt Bomer. Jennifer Coolidge and Octavia Spencer are also joining the roster of the film.

B.O.O: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS is Dreamworks latest attempt at a franchise starter, something they have failed to do recently. After the disappointing performance of TURBO this summer, the studio is looking for another movie that can be turned into television series, toys, and sequel features.

“B.O.O. is asupernatural action comedy (that) follows two bumbling apparitions who find themselves in an extraordinary after-life adventure when they join the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (B.O.O.) – the ghost world’s elite counter-haunting unit – and ultimately must face off against the planet’s greatest haunter.”

In what sounds a lot like a cross between MONSTERS, INC. and MONSTERS VS ALIENS, Murray will play the villain, Addison Drake. I love Murray’s movies and having another animated film with him in it will be a nice introduction for kids to his wide array of great films. This will mark Rogen’s third venture with Dreamworks after MONSTERS VS ALIENS and KUNG FU PANDA.

B.O.O: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS will be directed and written by Tony Leondis (IGOR) and is slated for a June 5, 2015 release.
