Who better to join the gentlemen of MONTY PYTHON than Simon Pegg? Not as a member but in an animated film.
Pegg will lend his voice to ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING, a sci-fi animated comedy that will also utilize the voice talents of Python members Terry Jones (who is also helming), John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, and Michael Palin. Robin Williams is also attached to the flick. Missing is Eric Idle, and Graham Chapman who sadly passed away in 1989.
Pegg plays a character called Neil Clarke, “a disillusioned school teacher who suddenly finds he has magical powers, bestowed upon him by aliens.” The actor who is also a huge fan of Python is elated to be a part of the film:
As someone whose love of comedy was hugely informed by Monty Python, the chance to work with Terry was a gift. Meeting your heroes is one thing – working with them is something else.
What’s great is that the members of Python will be voicing the aliens with Williams as Clarke’s faithful dog. Pre-production begins on February 2, 2014 with principal photography going ahead in London on March 23rd.
The Python gang will reunite after 33 years to do a handful of live shows, the first in London sold out in 43 seconds. The group have actually not performed together in London for about 40 years now. SOUTH PARK creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are the ones to thank for the reunion according to Python. So we owe them a big thank you.
