The red-band trailer for 22 JUMP STREET, the sequel to the TV-to-film adaptation of 21 JUMP STREET has arrived and it’s every bit as hilarious and crazy. Starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as two undercover cops who pose as college students to bust up a drug ring, the sequel looks like a total blast, which is what I’d expect, especially with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller back in the driver’s seat.
Take a look:
Here’s the synopsis:
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
21 JUMP STREET was a hell of an underdog when it came out in 2012 and ended up being the funniest movie of the year for many. With a worldwide cume of just over $200 million a sequel was inevitable and from the looks of it this will fit well within the original’s wheelhouse. It was the film that changed the tide of opinion for Tatum almost overnight and realigned him in a positive light, which he’s worked fairly hard to keep since. Hill, who’s continued to cultivate a balance between comedy and drama with flicks like THIS IS THE END and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET feels right at home in this franchise as well. I’m in, boys.
22 JUMP STREET, starring Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Ice Cube, and Jillian Bell enrolls to theaters on June 13, 2014.
