Mike Judge’s new HBO series Silicon Valley gets a teaser trailer

Mike Judge‘s success has primarily been on the small screen. Both BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD as well as KING OF THE HILL have become part of pop culture, but it is Judge’s live action work in movies like OFFICE SPACE, IDIOCRACY, and EXTRACT that have gained him a cult following as a filmmaker. While the studios keep messing up his movies, Judge is returning to the small screen with his live action series SILICON VALLEY.

SILICON VALLEY will air on HBO following new episodes of GAME OF THRONES and looks to continue the trend of comedies the cable network has been airing like GIRLS, GETTING ON, LADIES MAN, and more. Judge’s sense of humor mixed with the lack of restrictions on HBO should make for some great viewing.

The series was created by Judge alongside John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, and focuses around various techies and their startup sundries, all of whom live in the home a dotcom millionaire offering free accommodations in exchange for a 10-percent stake in each person’s startup.

One of the characters, described as an introverted computer programmer, manages to entice a bidding war over his search algorithm, which seems to be the focus of the first season. The show, by all accounts, is rather merciless in its focus on Silicon Valley and all it entails, both in reality and in stereotype, and is based in part on Judge’s own past experience.

Judge should bring the same snark and comedy to the technology world as he did to cubicle farms with OFFICE SPACE. The cast may not be instantly recognizable to most, but there are some great comedic talents that look pretty damn hilarious even in this brief video. SILICON VALLEY stars Thomas Middleditch, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Amanda Crew, Zack Woods, Matt Ross, T.J Miller, and Christopher Evan Welch. It premieres April 6th.
