Channing Tatum is writing Magic Mike 2 with a Matthew McConaughey bust

Did I have you at MAGIC MIKE 2 or Matthew McConaughey bust? We haven't heard much about the sequel to Channing Tatum's male stripper flick, however part of the reason is because the script hasn't been written yet. But have no fear fans of man meat and gyrating flesh: Channing Tatum has started work on the script for MAGIC MIKE 2. He revealed the news on his Facebook page, with this image of himself with a bust of Matthew McConaughey.

I'm sure I know the big question that is on everyone's mind: "Where the hell can I get my own Matthew McConaughey bust?" Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to that question, but damn, I'd love to own one. All kidding aside, MAGIC MIKE was actually a very solid movie in my opinion, and I'm interested in seeing how Channing Tatum will handle the script for the sequel.

Here's what Tatum had to say about MAGIC MIKE 2 back in June:

"It will be a road-trip movie, and it will essentially be the movie that everyone thought the first one was going to be: crazy and fun and less slice-of-life and less drama. The first one, we had to make not so cheesy and campy; this one we are going to swing for the fences."

My only problem is MAGIC MIKE was so well received by critics because it wasn't too cheesy and campy. If Channing Tatum is going to pander to women that just want to get hot and bothered with the new film, the sequel probably won't be anywhere near as good as the first movie. I'm not saying MAGIC MIKE is a masterpiece, but it's definitely better than SHOWGIRLS, and hopefully the sequel won't be a tawdry mess like that infamous bomb.
