Quentin Tarantino’s scrapped Hateful Eight will get a live reading in LA

Despite Quentin Tarantino‘s pending trial against Gawker for contributing to the leak of his screenplay for THE HATEFUL EIGHT, the director will be allowing a live reading of the full script in a rare, one night only event in Los Angeles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the event will take place on April 24th at LACMA’s Bing Theater with proceeds going towards programming efforts at LACMA’s Film Independent. The event will not be recorded or live streamed. What is unknown is if the reading will be enacted by multiple performers or if Tarantino himself will participate.

Hateful Eight centered on the rising tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.

THE HATEFUL EIGHT was scrapped due to a leak of the full screenplay which Tarantino believes may have been the result of an agent of one of the few individuals he gave copies to including Bruce Dern and Michael Madsen. Gawker further added fuel to the fire by posting the script on their website where it was downloaded by numerous individuals before being taken down. The results of that trial are pending.

Tarantino has said he will not be filming THE HATEFUL EIGHT “next” and may publish it as a book. It remains unknown if the movie will ever be made, but from the details shared online by those who have read the script, it sounded quite epic. If any of you are lucky enough to attend the event, please let us know as many details as you can!
