Confirmed: Charlie Cox will be Daredevil in Netflix’s Marvel series

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Confirmed! THR is reporting that Cox has been cast in the role. Meet your new Matt Murdock! – PS

Also, check out the new synopsis for the show, released by Marvel:

Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

In keeping with the unique casting choices for their projects, Marvel's Netflix series DAREDEVIL may have found the right Man Without Fear in BOARDWALK EMPIRE actor Charlie Cox. The English actor appeared for two seasons on the HBO series and also co-starred in Matthew Vaughn's fantasy film STARDUST. He recently filmed a pilot for a CBS series with John Cusack that did not get picked up so his slate is currently wide open.

While this is just a rumor, the name flies in the face of more famous actors like Michael C. Hall whose named was thrown around after the finale of DEXTER. While Latino Review claims their sources are checking out, nothing is official until it is official.

Marvel has tended to go with unknowns or actors on the verge of breaking out for their main roles with bigger names reserved for supporting parts in their films. Most of the big screen Marvel actors reached their fame through their superhero performances. On the small screen, the series AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and the upcoming AGENT CARTER have relied on established cinematic universe performers in Clark Gregg and Hayley Atwell to head their respective series. Cox is essentially an unknown to most audiences and could easily slip into the series and surprise everyone. I like this rumor and hope it turns out to be true.
