Pierce Brosnan is out for vengeance in the trailer for The November Man

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Pierce Brosnan will always be the man who was James Bond, but that doesn’t mean he needs to be typecast as a secret agent. Take for instance the new movie THE NOVEMBER MAN where Brosnan plays an ex-secret agent…oh boy, I guess maybe he will be typecast. But, that doesn’t mean he cannot still knock the role out of the park, right?

THE NOVEMBER MAN seems to take it’s cue more from movies like TAKEN and UNKNOWN rather than the traditional 007 formula. The new trailer for the film puts the focus squarely on Brosnan’s character looking for vengeance and a whole lot of explosions. Throw in some quick glimpses of former Daniel Craig-era Bond babe Olga Kurylenko and you have the makings of a potential good time at the movies.

An ex-CIA operative is brought back in on a very personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former pupil in a deadly game involving high level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect.

Before you get all persnickety and call THE NOVEMBER MAN a Redbox caliber movie, know that this was directed by Roger Donaldson. Donaldson is best known for helming movies like NO WAY OUT, WHITE SANDS, THE RECRUIT, THIRTEEN DAYS, and SPECIES. He and Brosnan previously worked together on the volcano movie DANTE’S PEAK. Donaldson may not have the same cachet he used to, but he is still a solid director.

THE NOVEMBER MAN is based on a series of spy novels so this could represent the first in an ongoing series. Here’s hoping it’s also a return to form for Brosnan as well.

THE NOVEMBER MAN is slated for release on August 27th.
