I can honestly say, without hyperbole, that this trailer for DOLPHIN TALE 2 is my favorite trailer of the week. The first movie was based on actual events and made a ton of money, so writer/director Charles Smith (AIR BUD) returned to tell another tale. I can do it too see! The sequel, features the same cast and will revolve around another true story from Clearwater Marine Aquarium, including both Winter and the baby dolphin, Hope. Winter will still be the central dolphin character in the film, so don't flip out.
Now it's my understanding that the first movie was a "tale" about fixing a Dolphins "tail". So what's this one about? And will it include any delightful play on words like DOLPHIN TALE 2: TALE HARDER? It works on so many levels.
Here's the synopsis:
The team of people who saved Winter's life reassemble in the wake of her surrogate mother's passing in order to find her a companion so she can remain at the Clearwater Marine Hospital. The loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.
Holy crap holy crap holy crap. What are they doing to do? They can design prosthetic Dolphin tails sure, but make a Dolphin social? Forget that noise. Joking aside, I know this movie is not for most people who visit this site, but the folks at Clearwater Marine Aquarium are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured marine animals and do it all non-profit. I'm sure they do more good in a day than I will do all year.
So kudos to them and sorry they cast Harry Connick Jr. as a Marine Biologist. Also, Ashley Judd escaped Cary Elwes’ lair for this? (Boom! Reference)
DOLPHIN TALE 2 swims into theaters September 12, 2014. I did it again!
