While we still wait for an official release date for Terry Gilliam’s THE ZERO THEOREM (the film’s official website says "Summer 2014") we are still being treated to fantastic trailers full of powerful visuals and what looks like another great performance by Christoph Waltz. We have the international trailer to remind us the movie is still alive; so definitely watch it if you haven’t seen anything from the movie yet.
Here's the synopsis:
An eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst works on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence – or the lack thereof -once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.
The brief ad at the end for "The Church of Batman the Redeemer" was a great surprise. Robin Williams as a priest/recruiter could be a whole other movie! The dude was a priest in THE BIG WEDDING and LICENSE TO WED, it seems to be his thing right? I'm not sure who the audience is for this one, but that can be said for most of Gilliam's work. I think it's destined for limited release and then find some life on VOD not long after. The movie also features Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, and Melanie Thierry.
