New York City gets shark attacked in the Sharnado 2: The Second One trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The viral success of SyFy’s SHARKNADO was a random moment in pop culture where everyone lost their collective minds for a few days as the cheesy and over-the-top awful movie made waves online in social media. The success of the film was so great that a bigger but not better follow-up was put together, reuniting stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid along with a slew of new faces including Andy Dick and Matt Lauer. Yes, that Matt Lauer.

The aptly titled SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE has unveiled a full look at the oceanic mayhem as it switches gears to where all sequels tend to go: New York City. The Big Apple always represents the next tier for a film and yet SHARKNADO 2 still looks like it was filmed for less than the cost of eating dinner at McDonalds for a family of four. But, we don’t watch movies like SHARKNADO for the quality; we just want to see how bad it can be.

They’re sharks, they’re scary. No one wants to get eaten. But I’ve been eaten! And I’m here to tell you it takes a lot more than that to take a good man down — a lot more than that to bring a New Yorker down!

While the first film was a cheesy monster mash of genres in the style of most SyFy original movies, SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE clearly looks to be winking at the audience knowingly about how bad the movie is. Can this sequel match the enjoyable awfulness of the first? Find out for yourselves when SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND one premieres on SyFy on July 30th at 9pm EST.
