Michael Bay isn’t getting out of the cool car business just yet; he’s set to produce a film for Warner Bros. based on a book of futuristic designs by Daniel Simon called “Cosmic Motors”. Simon has designed vehicles for movies like CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, PROMETHEUS, OBLIVION, and TRON LEGACY. Released in 2007, the book shows different vehicle creations for a sci-fi universe in each chapter. Simon explains the design and purpose behind each vehicle; we have few pretty slick pictures below for you to check out.
The official website for the book has a nice description:
Come explore the vehicle designs of a far away galaxy called Galaxion where futuristic concepts exist in everyday life. Nine different spaceships, pods, race cars, giant trains, warships and balloons from various planets of the Galaxion system are shown from concept to completion. Daniel Simon is an established senior car designer who has spent the last several years focusing his talents on futuristic concepts for such automakers as Bugatti and Lamborghini. In his first book, Cosmic Motors, each chapter shows the design process of a unique vehicle, from the first ideation sketches to the stunningly detailed 3-D models to the final photo-realistic full spread renderings. Join Daniel in this virtual world of visionary vehicles!
Kyle Ward (AGENT 47, MACHETE KILLS) has now come on board to adapt the book into a screenplay. There isn’t much more than that at the moment about the movie, but as promised, here some of the images from the book and website:
You have to admit these are pretty awesome. I’m not a car guy at all, and even though these are the most impractical vehicles ever (told you I wasn’t a car guy), I appreciate the creativity. It would be nice to see a futuristic sci-fi movie with these vehicles speeding all over the place, no doubt crashing and creating some of that “Bayhem” we love so much.
Would you check out a movie based on “Cosmic Motors”?
