While the CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON sequel will be Netflix's first feature film, it's been announced Adam Sandler has signed a four-picture deal with the streaming media provider. The planned movies won't be released in theaters, and besides starring in them, Sandler will also produce the films through his Happy Madison Productions.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos on Adam Sandler and his movies:
People love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages — everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line — not just in the U.S. but all over the world.
Adam Sandler's on his new deal with Netflix:
When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only….Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!
Maybe this new deal will be a good thing for Adam Sandler, since his last few movies (BLENDED, JACK AND JILL, THAT'S MY BOY) underperformed at the box office. They also received mostly negative reviews from critics, but that's nothing new for actor. Although I probably shouldn't be, I'm hopeful Sandler's new films for Netflix won't be completely terrible. Adam Sandler can be seen next in Jason Reitman's MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN on October 17, 2014.
