The month of October is nearing its apex with Halloween right around the corner (next Friday folks)! In celebration of that fact, a screening of John Carpenter‘s classic film was done at the Universal Citywalk in Orlando. In attendance were Mike Aiello, the creative director of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, and Malek Akkad, current producer of the HALLOWEEN series. The two spoke about the deliciously frightful Halloween house that’s rightfully pulling in some of the most people (alongside The Walking Dead house), as well as the next film in the Halloween series that’s further along than you might think.

Here’s what Akkad had to say about the next HALLOWEEN flick:

It’s been a joy to work with so many creative people – ten films. We’re working on eleven as we speak. We’re working on a script right now. A new draft – perfect timing – is supposed to hit the day before Halloween. Hopefully my Halloween night reading will be a good read.

Akkad was tight-lipped about everything else, choosing not to divulge the names of the writers of the next HALLOWEEN film or whether or not it would follow Rob Zombie‘s HALLOWEEN II. Zombie’s second effort into the life and times of Michael Myer’s was met with more detestment than the first, so something tells me that they might go in somewhat of a different direction for the eleventh entry into the series. Regardless, I think it’s safe to say audiences are ready for an old school horror icon back up on the big screen.
