Zachary Quinto joins the third season of Hannibal

Hannibal’s premiere being moved to the summer instead of having its customary spring opening left me a little disappointed (I want it now!), but I fully appreciate that this move will only be good for the show. Creator Bryan Fuller had stated that this switch will give the production team more time to polish up those already fantastic episodes and that the move will hopefully result in a bump up in the ratings department.

Today EW reported that Zachary Quinto will be stepping into Hannibal’s world as a patient of Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson). At the moment it seems as though he’ll just be appearing in one episode but I can only assume the door will be open for his return should he survive.

The third season of Hannibal has already added Joe Anderson (replacing Michael Pitt as Mason Verger), Richard Armitage (stepping into the role of the Tooth Fairy), Nina Arianda (as Will Graham’s love interest), and wisely upped Gillian Anderson to series regular status.

Hannibal will return to NBC this summer.
