Behold, the first trailer for Adam Sandler’s Pixels has arrived

Adam Sandler hasn't had a very good year so far; his most recent film, THE COBBLER, received quite the negative reaction despite being quietly dumped into theaters. His next film, PIXELS, definitely won't premiere without fanfare, but will it offer the comedian a chance at redemption? Lets check out the new trailer together shall we?

I will admit, that final gag prompted a chuckle or two out of me but it still strikes me as a concept that was better left as a short film. One thing that gives me a bit of hope is Chris Columbus; the man has proven that he can direct a large ensemble in a visual effects driven picture while still finding the heart at the center of it all. I'm hopeful that PIXELS will at least be a fun ride rather than a cringe inducing ordeal that makes me regret the years I spent developing crippling joint pain playing Space Invaders.

The film's official synopsis:

When intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet.

PIXELS will be invading theaters July 24, 2015.
