Ethan Hawke pilots drones in U.S. trailer for Andrew Niccol’s Good Kill

Ethan Hawke reunites with his GATTACA director Andrew Niccol for GOOD KILL, a drama which deals with the rather controversial topic of drone warfare. Hawke plays Major Thomas Egan, a hot-shot pilot who finds himself flying drone missions in Afghanistan from a shipping container in Las Vegas. Before too long his missions start to take a toll on his mental state and his wife and kids begin feeling the effects of his anger and frustration.

IFC Films just released the U.S. trailer for GOOD KILL which stars Ethan Hawke, January Jones, Bruce Greenwood, Zoe Kravitz, and Jake Abel; check it out.

Andrew Niccol's first effort, GATTACA, remains a favourite of mine but I found his subsequent efforts to be somewhat lacking. LORD OF WAR, in which Ethan Hawke also appeared, was decent from what I remember but nothing has quite lived up to the promise I saw with his work in GATTACA. Here's hoping a third team-up with Hawke will pay off.

GOOD KILL actually premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival and our own Chris Bumbray was on hand to review the film. Check out his review here if you're interested, and if you want to go check out GOOD KILL in theaters, it opens in a limited release on May 15, 2015.
