Director Jared Hess' (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, NACHO LIBRE) new movie MASTERMINDS (previously titled LOOMIS FARGO) will hit theaters later this summer, and the first trailer has been released for the upcoming crime comedy. The film is based on the Loomis Fargo Bank Robbery in Charlotte, North Carolina, and stars Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Ken Marino.
MASTERMINDS looks OK, but just OK. Although I chuckled a couple of times, the first trailer didn't really do too much for me, which probably isn't a good thing since the movie stars several very funny comedic actors. But I've enjoyed most of Jared Hess' previous movies, and maybe a better trailer will be released in the next few months that will convince me to give MASTERMINDS a shot.
"You gotta give me a 3 count next time."
Synopsis:
Inspired by true events that occurred in 1997, the story follows a disgruntled armored car driver (Galifianakis) who teams up with a pretty co-worker and a group of inexperienced criminals to steal nearly $20 million from a bank vault. The thieves leave a glaring trail of evidence in their wake as they go on excessive spending sprees and buy mansions, sports cars and boats. To make matters worse, the driver's accomplices double-cross him and leave him alone on the run in Mexico while they live the good life off the loot back in the States. Now the only thing tougher than pulling off the heist will be turning the tables on those who betrayed him.
MASTERMINDS will be in theaters on August 7, 2015.
