Ryan Gosling in talks to star in Guillermo del Toro’s Haunted Mansion

It's been close to five years since Guillermo del Toro announced HAUNTED MANSION at Comic-Con in 2010 but we finally have some news to bring you that should get the long-gestating project moving forward. The Wrap is reporting that Ryan Gosling is in talks to join Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of the Disneyland ride Haunted Mansion.

Ryan Gosling and Guillermo del Toro have struck up a friendship as of late; del Toro moderated a panel with Gosling at SXSW last month to discuss Gosling’s LOST RIVER and the pair were spotted at Disneyland where del Toro took Gosling on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion rides. If this is what it's like dating Guillermo del Toro, sign me up. The pair also showed up at Radiator Springs Racers where it looked like they were having the time of their lives.

Well, del Toro is anyway; Gosling looks a little too cool for school, or maybe he got a bug in his eye. Guillermo del Toro hasn't said a lot about HAUNTED MANSION but he did say that "it's going to be scary. Hopefully it will be fun scary, rather than funny scary. It's going to be fun but the idea is to make it scary like when you go through the ride as the kid – part of you is charmed and part of you wants to get out of there." Last year they were still trying to crack the script but with the news of Ryan Gosling's potential casting it seems as though they may have finally cracked that nut.

Guillermo del Toro's next film CRIMSON PEAK will be haunting theaters on October 16, 2015.
