Tom Cruise will once again be running, fighting and gunning on the big screen this summer in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION, but the actor might be returning to the comedy genre in Disney's BOB THE MUSICAL. The Wrap is reporting that Cruise is considering taking the title role, and the site also says Michel Hazanavicius (THE ARTIST) is being courted to helm the high-concept musical comedy.
According to The Wrap, BOB THE MUSICAL will follow "a regular guy who can suddenly hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart after suffering a blow to the head. His reality instantly becomes a musical, much to his dismay." The film has been in development since 2004, and the recent draft of the script was written by SAN ANDREAS and HERE COMES THE BOOM scribe Allan Loeb. At one point THE LEGO MOVIE's Phil Lord and Chris Miller were eyeing the project, as well as Cruise's ROCK OF AGES director, Adam Shankman.
BOB THE MUSICAL sounds like it could be a very fun film, especially if it does end up landing Tom Cruise as the lead. Do you want Cruise to play Bob, or would you rather see a different actor in the role?
Tom Cruise's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION opens on July 31, 2015.
