While we can't (yet) see the footage Quentin Tarintino premiered at THE HATEFUL EIGHT panel in all of its 70mm glory, we can hear about some of the juicy information he dropped regarding his upcoming western. The biggest news, undoubtedly, is that Ennio Morricone will be scoring the film. The master composer is a huge name in the field of westerns (ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST anyone?), and this will be the first time he's returned to the genre in 40 years! Along with that news, we have a brand new poster for the film (down below) and a few Tweets regarding the panel.
"When you shoot a 70mm indoors: it makes everything more intimate, it brings you closer to the actors." Tarantino on #TheHatefulEight

"There's NOBODY like this guy. He's in a league of his own." Kurt Russell on working with Quentin Tarantino. #SDCC

"You have to make at least 3 westerns to call yourself a 'Western Director.' I'll make a 3rd so I can call myself that" –Quentin Tarantino

Tarantino is a little up and down regarding his directorial future, but if DJANGO and EIGHT are any indication, I would welcome a third western with open arms. Especially if he's going to push a format like 70mm. We were pretty close to not even having THE HATEFUL EIGHT be a reality, so this movie will truly be a Christmas gift to Tarantino fans. Bring on Kurt Russell's mustache!
THE HATEFUL EIGHT will hit 70mm-capable theaters on December 25th, then everywhere else on January 8, 2016.
