Daniel Craig “firmly denies” he filmed a cameo in Star Wars: Episode VII

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The rumor of Daniel Craig appearing as a stormtrooper in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has been popping up online for months. Most recently, Simon Pegg shot down the rumors himself. Pegg has since been confirmed as having a role as an alien in J.J. Abrams' movie but the Daniel Craig rumor just won't die. Now, the man himself has responded to the story.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly about Pegg's comments, Craig had this to say.

"Why would I ever bother doing something like that? F*cking hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie? Talk to Simon Pegg. He obviously knows way more than I do," before adding, "He's just jealous because he's not in Star Wars. He's got some issue with [Star Wars director J.J. Abrams] I don't know what the f— it is. You need to talk to Simon about it."

Obviously, this quote was taken before the Comic Con reveal that Pegg is, in fact, in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Craig could be playing along as his comments seem unnecessarily harsh. I never took Craig to be such a snob. I mean, the guy did star in COWBOYS & ALIENS, so how high brow can he be? Even if he does play a stormtrooper, I doubt we would ever get formal confirmation of it. Still, we can stay tuned to the credits when STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens on December 18th.
