Mark Hamill is voicing The Joker for Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie

Batman: The Killing Joke Mark Hamill Banner

After it was announced that an animated film based on the Alan Moore graphic novel "Batman: The Killing Joke" was in the works at this year's SDCC, many were hopeful that Mark Hamill would be providing the voice of the Joker, including Hamill, who earlier this month tweeted that he wanted the gig. Collider is reporting that Hamill got his wish, and has actually already recorded his lines for the film.

Mark Hamill has voiced The Joker in almost every non-live-action Batman project featuring the villain, from Batman: The Animated Series to, most recently, Rocksteady Studio's Batman: Arkham Knight. Considered to be one of the best Batman tales of all time, Moore's comic sees the "Clown Prince of Crime" trying to drive Commissioner Gordon crazy in order to prove that anyone could go insane after having "one bad day." I can't even put into words how happy I am that Hamill will be voicing The Joker in an animated version of one of my favorite Batman comics, especially since DC has done an absolutely fantastic job with its animated features.

Sam Liu is directing BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE with Bruce Timm executive producing, and it will be released sometime in 2016, while Mark Hamill will finally return to the big screen as Luke Skywalker when STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens on December 18, 2015.
