A crossover between Marvel’s TV shows and their films is “inevitable”

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Marvel's stable of television shows has been slowly growing, but while they occupy the same universe as their big-screen counterparts, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, and Agent Carter haven't made as much of an impact on the films as the films have made on them; however, with the popularity of their existing shows increasing as well as hype for their upcoming Netflix series, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke at a special AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Blu-ray/DVD release art show and confirmed that a proper crossover is inevitable once the matter of scheduling can be solved:

I think that’s inevitable at some point as we’re plotting the movies going forward. The schedules do not always match up to make that possible. They’re more nimble and faster and are able to produce things more quicker than we do. That’s one of the reasons you can feel the effects of The Winter Solider or Age of Ultron on the show. Going forward and certainly as they tend to do more shows and cast as such great actors as they have — particularly on the Daredevil show — that may occur… By the time we start doing a movie, they’d be midway through a season. By the time our movie comes out, they’d be done with the second and starting the third season. Finding the timing on that is not always easy.

Marvel's TV shows, particularly their Netflix series, have assembled quite the talented group, including Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Rosario Dawson, Krysten Ritter, David Tennant, Carrie-Anne Moss, Alfre Woodard, and many others, so it's only natural that Marvel would want to make use of them on the big screen. Aside from the scheduling issue, another potential roadblock for a Marvel film/TV crossover is the recent restructuring of Marvel Studios. Although Kevin Feige will now be reporting directly to Disney's Alan Horn, Marvel's TV branch will still fall under Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter's domain.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will be released on Blu-ray/DVD on October 2, 2015.

Which Marvel Television character would you most like to see make the leap to the big-screen?
