After spending much of the past eight years dealing with giant transforming robots and mind-numbing over the top action, it’s an interesting change of pace to see Michael Bay tackle the true story of an event which hits home for a lot of people. 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI recounts the attack on the U.S. Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA Annex in Benghazi on the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11; after which a team of six American security operators attempted to repel the attackers and save as many lives as they could.
Both a red-band and green-band trailer have been released, check them out below!
While it’s clear that 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI definitely has all the trademarks of a Michael Bay film, there’s also potential that it can rise above simply being an overly loud action flick if Bay is able to treat the event and its characters with the seriousness and maturity that it deserves. Chuck Hogan penned the script for the film based upon “13 Hours: The Inside Account Of What Really Happened In Benghazi” by Mitchell Zuckoff. 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI stars James Badge Dale, John Krasinski, Toby Stephens, Pablo Schreiber, Max Martini, David Denman, Dominic Fumusa, and Freddie Stroma.
13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI opens on January 15, 2016.
