Fox confirms Prometheus sequel to be Alien: Covenant plus first synopsis!

A few days ago we caught word that the PROMETHEUS sequel, dubbed PARADISE: LOST, may have received a title change. Looks like that was the case as Twentieth Century Fox has just confirmed it with the above picture, as well as a story synopsis!

The synopsis for ALIEN: COVENANT:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

We’re all a little bummed that Neill Blomkamp‘s pseudo-ALIENS sequel has been shelved for the time being, but something has me really curious to see why Ridley Scott has such a hard-on for these PROMETHEUS sequels. At the very least, it looks like he’s gotten rid of what made PROMETHEUS flawed, and kept one of the best aspects intact. Namely Michael Fassbender. Here’s hoping this new crew has more characters audiences can actually give a shit about!

ALIEN: COVENANT will hit theaters on October 6th, 2017.
